The point: GW2 will have a similar system requirement (relative to the normal system at it's release) as GW1 (relative to the normal system at it's release) it's not going to "raise the bar" anymore than GW 1 did.
The reason I am focused on the word gaming Is very simple. A gaming computer is an entirely different animal than A PC or computer. A "gaming computer" has much higher specs, dedicated graphics card (not an onboard), fast ram and cpu and a big power supply.

I did not mean to cause a sudden outbreak of paranoia, but baseing on the release date(sometime after Jan 1st '09) a mid-range gaming machine would look like: a fast dual core intel 45nm cpu/AMD phenom, 1066FSB motherboard and 4 gigs ddr2 800 ram, a dedicated graphics card like an 8800gt or a radeon 3870, a 550 watt psu. At that point in time these items will be considered low-mid range.

Well, no beta in 2008. I've officially lost all interest.

Why? Were you planning to be a part of it?

I for one am still excited about GW2. If I find that the current game doesn't hold my interest I'll play something else until GW2 does come out. No big.

I loved the first game for 3 years though, so have no doubt the next one will get me all excitable when it does finally come out

Funny, that's pretty much what I was thinking :P If Kurzick/luxon, norn, asura, deldrimor, vanguard, sunspear, lightbringer titles/skills aren't grind, I don't know what is.

In a way, I'm glad that the beta is going to be until next year. Dont get me wrong, I'm a little disappointed because I was looking forward to playing the beta.
The thing is, anet want everyone to be very impress with their work on GW2 and that's why they decided to wait. That statement alone reasurres me that they are doing their best to meet our expectations.

Maybe they decided to remove the grind out of GW???

mmm nope, I dont think so, if you are able to show your accomplishments from GW1 in GW2, then there's the possibility of new titles in GW2. Which means.... yes ... ginding.

I kept saying there's no way they'll start beta in 2008. It always seemed too soon.

Of course, we should all be happier with aNet taking their time to make GW2 the best it can be rather than wanting to play a rushed, shitty ol' beta version.

I have to agree with Mazza558, though, screenshots (and teasers) would be nice. Can't wait for the excitement when that starts happening.

Absolutely disappointed there's no Tengu, btw... -_-;;
Not that I thought they'd actually add it

My guess is they are referring to the absence of grinding required to make your characters competitive. You don't need to advance any of those titles to get into PvP.

(Of course there's player imposed "grinding" in some forms of PvP, though. Needing to be a certain rank to join a group, and such. But Anet didn't impose that requirement...)

That's how I interpreted it when I read the FAQ, anyway...

It looks like the only new info there is:
*no beta in 2008 - I'm not surprised with this.
They're clearly in very early stage of development, and they don't want to show the game so unfinished... whoever remembers GW1 presentations in 2003 and what changed in just 1 year since then will agree that no early beta may be a good choice.
*a mention of "reaching the maximum level" - disappointing, I hoped for something different this time. But is this even a clear statement they have decided to include a level cap?
*the game will be almost entirely soloable - also disappointing and repeat of post NF GW1... with no real incentives for group play it's just a Single Player Online RPG, again.

its not a grind since you dont have to grind them if you dont want.... its optional (in the sense of beating the game)
